Carbs are NOT BAD
If I had a dime for all for all of the times that I heard “I am trying not to eat carbs so I can lose weight” then I would be drowning in dollar bills lemme tell you.
Honestly though, no judgement because I used the think the same thing. I thought that the only way that I was going to lose weight was if I cut out all my carbs and ran 3 miles on the treadmill everyday. Thank goodness we know better now.
Ladies, ladies listen up! CARBS ARE NOT BAD. Carbs are our fuel source. Especially as women we NEED carbs for fuel and more carbs than men actually. Women’s bodies in general utilize carbs as their main energy source and tend to respond better when it comes to performance and energy levels. Now, the carbs that we choose DO MATTER but carbs in general are not bad and will not make us gain weight. Not to go on a tangent but many people think that it is “this food” or “that food” that is making them gain weight. Simply put, you are gaining weight because you are consuming more calories than you are burning on a daily basis. Whether that be from bread or chicken breast. Calories in vs calories out.
Back on topic now. Carbs are a great way for us to fuel our workouts and refuel post workout. So what carbs should you choose? I always recommend choosing carbs that are in the most whole, unprocessed form. Rice, potatoes, vegetables and fruits. This will ensure that they are not full of a bunch junk and sugar but rather fiber and micronutrients. From that point I always recommend pairing your carbs with a protein, fiber or fat in order to help to decrease the blood sugar spike, you will learn more about this in the Blood Sugar Chapter in our educational course section of the member site.
Carbs are not your enemy. They actually can be a great friend to you on your health and fitness journey if you consume them in the right manner. If you are in this member site then you are receiving 1:1 coaching with me and will learn about how to add carbs into your day in the right way through that coaching. So get ready to fuel it up!
