“Where do I start?”
Starting your health and wellness journey can be VERY overwhelming. Between the fitness influencers, wellness podcasts, creative nutrition reels on instagram it can all get a little blurry. There is a large amount of information and opinions out there claiming that a certain “diet” is the key or that a particular “workout plan” will be the only way to see results. Combine all of that with your own personal struggles of mindset, bad habits and no motivation. Honestly, it all becomes a perfect recipe for what I call “paralysis by analysis”.
The term “paralysis by analysis” is when you receive so much information on what to do that you get overwhelmed and don’t do anything. It is something that I struggled with for along time and at times still struggle with.
When it comes to starting your health and wellness journey I think it is important to find someone you trust. Someone who lives a similar life as you, has a message that resonates with you and is accomplishing things you want to accomplish but in a real way. Not some fancy fitness influencer who is just showing you the highlight reel of their life. You want someone who is giving you the practical tips that can help you achieve the goals you are looking for. The reason I recommend reaching out to a coach or educator of some sort is because it will give you the accountability you are looking for. Accountability and community is huge when it comes to a journey like this one.
From this point on the only thing you have to decide to do is just go. Take in the information and start applying little changes slowly. I am very much an all or nothing person so I find it hard to follow this “step by step” process all the time but have coached long enough now to know that this is the best way to achieve life long sustainable health. You have to look at this journey as just that ,a journey, and be willing to let those small subtle changes add up over time into the healthy lifestyle you have always wanted.
